Creative Communities Scheme
About this fund
This scheme supports and encourages local arts activities. It is a partnership between Ōpōtiki District Council and Creative New Zealand.
Every year Creative New Zealand provides money to councils to support local arts activities. Any individual, group or organisation can apply.
Various types of projects are considered for these grants, such as workshops, performances, exhibitions, short-term arts events, and arts-related promotional activities.
Approximately $20,000 is available to allocate per year through two funding rounds.
You can see some of the local projects that have been supported in the past here: Past Allocations PDF 63KB.
Have you received funding in the past and still need to send us a completed project report form? You can download one here: CCS Project Report Form PDF 49KB or use our easy online project completion form.
The best place to start is with the Creative Communities Scheme Brochure. This brochure tells you if your project is able to be funded through the scheme and how to make an application. CCS Brochure PDF 731KB.
Projects seeking funding from this scheme should meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Broad community involvement - the project creates opportunities for local communities to engage with and take part in arts activities.
- Diversity - the project supports the diverse arts and cultural traditions of local communities, enriching and promoting their uniqueness and cultural diversity.
- Young people - the project enables and encourages young people (under 18 years) to engage with and actively participate in the arts.
To be eligible for funding, projects must take place within the Opotiki District. Projects already receiving Creative New Zealand funding are not eligible. Contact the Scheme Administrator if you need to clarify eligibility requirements.
