Sport NZ Rural Travel Fund
About the fund
The Rural Travel Fund is designed to help subsidise travel for junior teams participating in local sporting competitions.
How to apply
Applications for the 2020-21 year have now closed. When the next funding round is open an application form will be available here and we will publish a notice of the opening of the round in the local paper. You can also contact Iranui Huriwai, the Sport NZ Rural Travel Fund Administrator for Ōpōtiki District Council, by phone on (07) 3153031 or email email@example.com to let her know you would like to be informed when the next round is opening.
Sport NZ requires organisations that receive funding to return an accountability form showing proof of purchases made within the funding period and attach any receipts.
Approximately $9,500 is available to allocate per year. One funding round is held each year.
Application for the rural travel fund is open to rural sports clubs and rural school teams with young people aged between 5 and 18 years who require subsidies to assist with transport expenses to local sporting competitions.
Funding is not provided for the purpose of travel to regional or national events.
The following criteria shall be applied when considering applications for funding. School club teams and sport club teams are defined as:
a school club team participating in regular local sport competition out of school time, that excludes inter school and intra school competitions played during school time and/or a sports club team participating in organised, regular sport competition through club membership outside of school time.
