Ōpōtiki District wards

Ōpōtiki District Council has:

One Mayor (elected at large)
Seven elected members (Councillors)
Coast Community Board (four elected members)

Councillors are elected from wards which are geographic subdivisions of the district to ensure balanced and diverse participation.

Four wards:

General Ward (urban) - 2 councillors
General Ward (rural) - 2 councillors
Māori Ward (Ōpōtiki) - 2 councillors
Māori Ward (Coast) - 1 councillor

Coast Community Board

The Coast Community Board is made of of four elected members and it plays a vital role in local government for our district.

The board is a connection between our coast communities and Council, supporting and advocating for coast communities to ensure that their voices are heard in council.
The Coast Community Board is administrator of the Coast Initiatives Fund. This grant supports coast projects, community events and facilities to ensure fair representation for all members of the Ōpōtiki community.
