Building Control Officer
About the role:
Are you passionate about delivering exceptional customer service, public safety, and the quality of buildings? Ōpōtiki District Council is seeking a motivated and customer focused Building Control Officer to join our Building and Planning team.
As a Building Control Officer, you will undertake building inspections, investigate compliance matters, and provide excellent service to our customers, contractors, and other key stakeholders
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting building inspections and ensuring compliance with the Building Act 2004 and NZ Building Code.
- Supporting the processing and administration of building consent applications.
- Investigating dangerous and insanitary building complaints.
- Assisting with Earthquake-Prone Building projects.
Ideally, you will:
- Hold R1 minimum in inspections in accordance with the National Standards.
- Hold competency in processing desirable but not essential.
- Have knowledge of Quality Management Systems
- Have the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships
- Be confident and provide exceptional customer service
