About the role:

Are you passionate about delivering exceptional customer service, public safety, and the quality of buildings? Ōpōtiki District Council is seeking a motivated and customer focused Building Control Officer to join our Building and Planning team.

As a Building Control Officer, you will undertake building inspections, investigate compliance matters, and provide excellent service to our customers, contractors, and other key stakeholders

Key responsibilities include:

• Conducting building inspections and ensuring compliance with the Building Act 2004 and NZ Building Code.
• Supporting the processing and administration of building consent applications.
• Investigating dangerous and insanitary building complaints.
• Assisting with Earthquake-Prone Building projects.

Ideally, you will:

• Hold R1 minimum in inspections in accordance with the National Standards.
• Hold competency in processing desirable but not essential.
• Have knowledge of Quality Management Systems
• Have the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships
• Be confident and provide exceptional customer service
