Resource Recovery Centres

COVID-19 UPDATE:

New Zealand is currently at Alert Level 4 in response to Covid-19 and apart from essential services the country is in lock-down to curb the transmission of the virus.

Council is focusing on continuing to provide essential services which the public rely on including Solid Waste.

Due to the current situation there are changes to the operations at our Resource Recovery Centres (RRCs). Here's what you need to know:

Only bagged daily household residual waste will be accepted.

Separated recycling will not be accepted or processed by RRC staff but things that would normally be recyclable CAN be included in the bagged daily household waste. This includes plastic bottles, tins, cardboard and glass.

The bagged household waste that is accepted will be at no charge.

Personnel at our RRC's will only be directing waste drop offs. They will not be assisting with lifting.

Refuse recovery centres will not be accepting steel, wood, tyres, demolition materials and green waste as well as other waste not listed here. Only bagged daily household residual waste will be accepted.

All waste will be going to landfill to minimize the risk of exposure to the Covid-19 virus. So if possible, Council asks the public to clean and store recyclable material, particularly glass, tin and cardboard.

For information on the current status of other Council services please view our Covid-19 page. We appreciate your patience and understanding during these challenging times.

End of update.
