About the role
Are you passionate about working alongside the community? Do have experience working with various community groups?
We are looking for a strategy advisor to join our Community Services and Development Group, reporting to the Strategic Development Manager.
The Strategy Advisor – Places and Spaces position will play a key role in creating and implementing a long-term strategy for the recreational spaces and places across Ōpōtiki district, always with the focus of creating a strong future for our community.
In this role, you will enjoy creating and maintaining relationships with key external community groups and stakeholders, including hapū and iwi, media, local and regional councils, and central government. Public engagement will be important, and you will ensure that all groups in the community are able to contribute to the places and spaces of the district.
Success in this role will be the creation and implementation of a community recreational facilities plan which our community has been involved in creating.
About you
You will have strong communication skills, and the ability to relate well to various groups and stakeholders. You will be able to demonstrate skills in presenting to groups, report writing, interacting with the public, and project management. You will be pro-active in building relationships with external customers and be able to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
You will have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification
- A minimum of 3 years of applicable work experience in a related field
- High level of computer literacy using Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated ability to work alongside a range of community groups and key stakeholders.
- An understanding of project management and public engagement.
- A high level of computer literacy and a current driver’s licence.
About the district
Ōpōtiki district has a relatively small population but it is huge in size, opportunity and culture: it also boasts one of the most beautiful coastlines in the country. The district is in a period of growth and change, and working with us is an opportunity to play a part in the district’s transformation.
