ODC Cadetship Programme Now Hiring!
Ōpōtiki District Council is piloting new Cadetship Opportunities in some of our departments. This is made possible thanks to the Mayors Taskforce for Jobs Recovery Project, a national initiative supporting rural communities. The focus of the funding is to support under 30 year old locals who have been employment disadvantaged, to gain entry level roles.
Successful applicants will become part of a team of ODC cadets who get training and coaching within their specific jobs and more broadly, to learn about working for local government and the many different opportunities and career pathways it offers.
Harbour Project Cadetship – 12 month fixed term
The last of our cadetships on offer for this year is with one of the most exciting projects in Opotiki – the Harbour Development.
In this role you will support the Harbour Project team to achieve their objectives. This exciting opportunity will give the successful applicant a whole of project overview with the opportunity to gain exposure in a range of areas including project management, geology and engineering. This experience is an incredible foundation from which to launch your career.
This cadetship is designed to build confidence and employability skills through the provision of quality on-the-job training and work experience over the 12-month period. The funding for these cadetships means only applicants under 30 years of age are eligible however if you do not fit the criteria but are keen to work for ODC in civil engineering, please put through an application so we may consider you for future opportunities.
