ODC Cadetship Programme Now Hiring!
Ōpōtiki District Council is piloting new Cadetship Opportunities in some of our departments. This is made possible thanks to the Mayors Taskforce for Jobs Recovery Project, a national initiative supporting rural communities. The focus of the funding is to support under 30 year old locals who have been employment disadvantaged, to gain entry level roles.
Successful applicants will become part of a team of ODC cadets who get training and coaching within their specific jobs and more broadly, to learn about working for local government and the many different opportunities and career pathways it offers.
Gardener Cadetships (x2) – 12 month fixed term
The first of these cadetships are with our Parks and Reserves team based here in Ōpōtiki, working throughout the District. As part of this team, you will support the delivery of high-quality gardens by performing a variety of general maintenance planting, gardening, improvement and cleaning activities of a manual labouring nature. This cadetship is designed to build confidence and employability skills through the provision of quality on-the-job training and work experience over the 12-month period.
The funding for these cadetships means only applicants under 30 years of age are eligible however if you do not fit the criteria but are keen to work for us as a Gardener please put through an application so we may consider you for future non-funded opportunities.
