We would like to hear your thoughts on the Joint Request Council has received from Te Arawhiti and Te Whānau a Apanui.
Summary of the proposal
Council has received a Joint Request from Te Arawhiti: the Office for Māori Crown Relations (Te Arawhiti) and Te Whānau a Apanui. The Joint Request is in relation to the transfer of ownership of properties in six locations in the district from Council to Te Whānau a Apanui, as part of Treaty of Waitangi settlement negotiations.

Council is carrying out public consultation about the Joint Request, in order to gather and consider the views of persons interested in the matter, and for the Council to fully consider the advantages and disadvantages of accepting the Joint Request, to inform its final decision.

If you don’t have access to a computer, you can call our main office on (07) 315 3030 to ask for a copy to be posted to you. Copies of this proposal and the accompanying submission form can also be collected from our main office at 108 St John Street Ōpōtiki during normal business hours.
All submissions are public information and may form part of a Council meeting agenda and remain on Council meeting minutes. This supports our drive to be as transparent as possible but, if there are any personal details you don’t want made public, please let us know on your submission.
