It is council's role to manage in a cost efficient manner, the property portfolio which comprise council offices and buildings, commercial property, community buildings and other land.
Council acquisition of land and buildings has been brought about, more as a sequence of historic events, rather than through a planned compilation of a property portfolio.
Over the next few years council will assess its properties to make sure they meet the changing needs of the community. Part of this process will be to balance asset holding with affordability.
