CCS Opotiki District call for nominations

The Opotiki District Creative Communities Scheme Committee is seeking to appoint two new community representatives to the committee.

The Creative Communities Scheme (CCS) supports and encourages local arts activities and is a partnership between Opotiki District Council and Creative New Zealand.

Every year Creative New Zealand provides money to councils to support local arts activities. Any individual, group or organisation can apply for a grant.  Various types of projects are considered for these grants, such as workshops, performances, exhibitions, short-term arts events, and arts-related promotional activities.  Currently the committee allocate around $11,000 of funding per year.

Committee members help make funding decisions, bring new knowledge and local connections into CCS and are familiar with the range and diversity of local arts activities.

This is a voluntary role - so is not remunerated - but we hope our committee members derive satisfaction from supporting the arts in Opotiki.

The committee meets twice a year (normally in May and October) and meetings are generally held on Wednesdays and start at 4pm in the Opotiki Council Chambers.

If becoming a member of the CCS committee sounds like something you would enjoy and find worthwhile we encourage you to seek nomination.

You can download a nomination form and return to Tracey Dale, Opotiki District Council, PO Box 44 Opotiki 3162, drop in to 108 St John Street Opotiki or email to traceyd@odc.govt.nz.
