The Opotiki district has a public library, owned and operated by the Council, and located in the Opotiki CBD on the corner of Church and King Streets. There is also a community library based at the Raukokore School.
The Opotiki District Library has a collection of approximately 35,000 books for loan covering adult, young adult and children's fiction and non-fiction and has access to other items through the National Library Interloan system. The Library also stocks magazines and major news papers.
Other services include internet access (conditions apply); word processing and spreadsheet services (conditions apply); photocopying and fax services; a computer catalogue; and lists of newly released books.
An annual membership fee of $2.00 applies to adults. Up to 12 items can be borrowed at any one time (limited to five for children) and a variety of lending fees are charged, depending on category. Overdue penalties and book replacement charges may apply.
The Opotiki Library is open from 10.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Thursday; from 10.00am to 6.00pm on Fridays; and from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Saturdays.
