Dog Control Policy
The Opotiki District’s Dog Control Bylaw aims to minimise any danger to the public, while providing for the rights and needs of dog owners and their charges. Control activities aim to reduce dogs roaming and uncontrolled breeding. Registration is a key component of the Dog Control Policy. For information on prohibited breeds and dog-restricted or prohibited areas, contact the Council.
Stock Control
Stock control is carried out under the 1955 Impounding Act and aims to see roaming stock removed from roads and reserves to prevent hazards and/or damage to the environment. Reports about roaming stock may be made to the Council at any time of the day or night.
Noise Control
Noise control is undertaken in accordance with the Resource Management Act to prevent nuisance to the community. Again, reports may be made to the Council 24 hours a day.
